On 4th Sep 2003 .kids.us became the new official domain designed specifically for children and endorsed by the US Government. It aims to provide children and websites targeting children a safe and unique environment online. Content is reviewed prior to the website going live and is periodically reviewed to ensure that the content guidelines are followed. There is a strict 'Takedown Policy' that will ensure that any site that is reported to be potentially harmful, will be disabled very quickly.

All applicants must be aware and agree to the restrictions on content which can be viewed here ( http://www.kids.us/content_policy/index.html )

Prior to the uploading of the site, any website content must be submitted to Neustar for review where a $250 fee will be charged. Note: This fee is an annual cost.

The review process will take between two and five working days and if acceptable then the domain will be added to the DNS to enable the website.

Please note that violations of the .kids.us content policy may result in offending sites being taken offline immediately. There will be a $400 content reactivation fee applicable if the site has been taken down.'
